Santino's Career

 

 

Stage Credits

Santino Fontana went to college at at the Guthrie Theatre where he participated in A Christmas Carol, Six Degrees of Separation, Death of a Salesman, As You Like It, and Hamlet. He was also in La Traviata at the Washington East Opera, as well as Once In A Lifetime, 9/11 Project, On The Verge, and Loves Labour's Lost at the Chautauqua Theatre Company. In 2006 he made his New York debut as Matt in The Fantasticks. He was in Hay Fever at the Old Globe Theatre in 2007, and made his broadway debut in Sunday In The Park With George the same year. In 2008 he originated the role of Tony Elliot in Billy Elliot the musical and also performed off-broadway in Perfect Harmony. In 2009 he played Stanley Jerome in Brighton Beach Memoirs on broadway, which closed before opening night due to a lack of ticket sales, despite positive reviews. Although the show had closed, Santino received a Drama Desk Award for the role. In 2010 he played Rodolfo in the broadway production of A View From The Bridge, where he suffered a head injury and had to drop out of the show before opening night. In 2011 he played Algernon in the revival of The Importance of Being Earnest on Broadway, as well as Joseph in the off-broadway production Sons Of The Prophet. He then went on to originate Prince Topher in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, where he received his first Tony Award nomination for. In 2014, he originated the role of Moss Hart in Act One. He also appeared in She Loves Me in 2013. Aside from performing in broadway/off-broadway shows, Santino has performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir 3 times in the course of a year. He also has performed at Carnegie Hall and has appeared with the New York Philharmonic. Santino was recently in the Encores! production Zorba, opening on May 6th with a closing date of May 10th, and has been cast in 2 new tv shows, the new NBC show, Shades Of Blue, and a new Showtime show called Crazy Ex Girlfriend.

 

 

Film/Television Credits

Santino has appeared on TV in The Goodwife, Nurse Jackie, Royal Pains, and A Gifted Man. Santino has appeared in the following movies: Frozen, Jack Ryan : Shadow Recruit, Nancy Please, and the upcoming Sisters (2015). He also has appeared in Submissions Only and Mozart in The Jungle (web series).
